CW 976nm Fiber Coupled Diode Laser
A 20W laser diode module with fiber-coupled output is developed. The fiber-coupled output of a diode laser is realized by using the technologies of beam collimation, spatial beam combining, beam shaping, and fiber coupling based on packaged emitters.

976nm wavelength: This is ideal for pumping ytterbium-doped fiber lasers because 976nm is close to the absorption peak of ytterbium ions. It is very popular in high-power fiber lasers for material processing, medical treatments, and military applications. The absorption cross section of 976nm is three times that of 915nm, and theoretically the absorption efficiency is higher. However, due to the narrow absorption peak of 976nm, it needs to be externally wavelength-locked when used as a pump source, which increases cost and complexity.
