The indium solder sintering process of diode laser bars is commonly used in market. Indium solder is prone to creep, electromigration and thermal fatigue, resulting in imperfect contact between the laser bar and the heat sink (with voids). The voids prevent heat passing downwards, creating localized heat spots, which increase the average thermal resistance of the laser components. Therefore, the laser sintering process directly affects the reliability, stability and long-term use of the lasers.
