Chip-on-submount:
Chip-on-submount's SMD package measures 3 mm x 5 mm and is ideal for integration into OEM solutions. The chip-on-submount package has two large gold wire bonding pads that make contact with the cathode and anode of the semiconductor laser diode. The chip-on-submount is fabricated to form an FP laser cavity that is tuned to emit radiation at the desired wavelength. These chip-on-submount diodes have a quantum well structure. In addition, these chip-on-submount laser diodes do not have a built-in monitoring photodiode and must be operated in constant current mode. Laser diodes are sensitive to electrostatic shock. Please take appropriate precautions when handling the equipment.
