1, according to the semiconductor materials used, can be divided into germanium diode (Ge tube) and silicon diode (Si tube).

2, according to its different USES, can be divided into detection diode, rectifier diode, voltage regulator diode, switch diode, isolation diode, schottky diode, led, silicon power switch diode, rotary diode, etc.

3. According to the core structure, it can be divided into point contact diode, surface contact diode and plane diode.

1) rectifier diode

A diode that converts an ac power supply into a dc current is called a rectifier diode.

2) detection diode

Detection diode is used to detect the low frequency signal superimposed on the high frequency carrier. It has high detection efficiency and good frequency characteristics.

3) switching diode

In pulse digital circuits, the diodes used to turn on and off circuits are called switching diodes, which are characterized by short reverse recovery time and can meet the needs of high-frequency and uhf applications.

4) voltage regulator diode

Voltage regulator diode is made of silicon material surface bonding crystal diode, it is the use of PN junction reverse breakdown of the voltage basically does not change with the change of current characteristics, to achieve the purpose of voltage regulator, because it can play a voltage regulator role in the circuit, so called, voltage regulator diode (referred to as voltage regulator tube).

5) varactor diode

Variable-capacitance diode (varactor) is a nonlinear capacitive element made by using the characteristic that the capacitance of p-n junction varies with the applied bias. It is widely used in parametric amplifiers, electronic tuners, frequency multipliers and other microwave circuits.

6)) transient voltage suppressor TVS

A solid state diode used specifically for ESD protection. TVS diodes are in parallel with the protected circuit. When the transient voltage exceeds the normal working voltage of the circuit, the diode avalanches, providing a path for the transient current and preventing the breakdown of the internal circuit from the excess voltage.

7) light-emitting diodes

It is made of gallium phosphide and gallium arsenide. Working voltage is low, working current is small, luminous uniform, long life, can be red, yellow, green monochromatic light.

8) schottky diode

The basic principle is that the formed schottky blocks the reverse voltage on the contact surface of a metal (such as lead) and a semiconductor (n-type silicon wafer). There are fundamental differences between the rectification principle of schottky and PN junction. Its pressure resistance is only about 40V. The advantage is: switching speed is very fast: reverse recovery time TRR is particularly short. Therefore, the switch diode and low-voltage high-current rectifier diode can be made.
