The broken kite is wrapped around the power grid. This scenery is not only beautiful, but also has potential safety hazards. Recently, the reporter learned from the Second Department of the Second Academy of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation that the astronauts developed a "grid laser foreign body removal system" for this hidden danger, which can "smash" the foreign matter in the grid. A few days ago, the second generation system was successfully launched.
The foreign matter is entangled in the wires of the high-voltage transmission network. Once it encounters rain and snow dew, it is easy to short-circuit and trip, which will not only cause the area to be cut off, but even cause a fire. In the traditional manual cleaning method, the operator is too close to the line, and there is a safety risk; there is also a method for removing the fire from the unmanned aerial vehicle, but it is very sensitive to the wind direction and requires high operation.
After receiving the national grid demand, the research team put forward the idea of laser cleaning foreign objects by guiding the elimination of safety hazards, simplifying operation steps and increasing operational safety. The team said that the laser has the characteristics of good directionality and high energy density, which can burn out foreign objects on high-voltage wires and avoid personnel safety.
Based on the test situation and customer feedback recommendations, the research team upgraded the first generation products. The second-generation products use a higher-power fiber laser, which is better for laser cutting and burning foreign matter; the laser launch uses a zoom design to make it easier to aim. In addition, the team integrated the focus and other operations into the software to achieve "fool" operation.
According to the team, the product can easily remove foreign objects such as branches, plastic bags, kites, nylon ropes, etc. within 20 to 150 meters without any damage to the wires.
