1651nm 20mW Butterfly Fiber Coupled Diode Laser

The 1651nm 20mW Butterfly Fibre Coupled Diode Laser is available in a standard 14-pin butterfly package with integrated thermoelectric cooler, thermistor and photodiode for stable operation. It is coupled to a single mode fibre to provide a clean and stable optical output. Each pin in the butterfly package has a specific function for precise control. With a linewidth of less than 300kHz, the laser is ideal for high-resolution gas sensing applications such as TDLAS and CH₄ detection. With an output power greater than 20mW and excellent wavelength stability, it ensures reliable performance in harsh environments.

Butterfly fiber-coupled diode lasers are popular because they are compact, reliable, and easy to operate. Their packages include built-in temperature controls (such as TECs and thermistors) and photodiodes for monitoring, which helps keep the laser stable over time. The fiber output (usually single-mode or PM) makes it very simple to connect to other devices, and the beam quality is clean and consistent. Each pin on the 14-pin package has a clear function, which makes integration very simple. In summary, this laser is an excellent choice for applications such as gas detection, spectroscopy, and laboratory settings, where stability and precision are critical.

Single-mode and multimode fibers differ primarily in how they transmit light and for what purposes. Single-mode fiber has a very small core that allows only one path for light. This results in a clean, stable beam with low divergence, ideal for gas sensing, spectroscopy, or any setup that requires precision and long-term stability.

In contrast, multimode fiber has a larger core, and the light travels through multiple paths. This makes the beam less uniform, but it can handle more power and is typically used for short-distance or high-power applications-like lighting or medical systems, where exact beam shape isn't as important.

So, in general, if you value precision and beam quality, choose single-mode. If you need more power, and beam shape isn't as important, multimode may be a better fit for you.

The line width of our product is less than 300kHz. A linewidth below 300kHz means the light from the laser is very stable and pure, with minimal frequency variation. In short, the color of the laser light does not vary much and is very stable. This narrow linewidth is critical for applications such as high-precision measurement, spectroscopy, and gas sensing, where a clean, stable light source can lead to more accurate and reliable results.

This product comes with an FC/APC connector. The main difference between FC/PC and FC/APC connectors lies in the fiber end-face angle and how they reduce back reflections. FC/PC connectors have a flat or slightly polished end-face and provide good alignment, but they can cause higher back reflections. FC/APC connectors have an 8-degree angled end-face, which helps to minimize back reflections significantly. This makes FC/APC connectors more suitable for applications requiring stable, low-noise optical signals, such as high-precision sensing and communication systems.
