What is single-mode COS?

COS stands for Chip on Submount, referring to the configuration where the laser chip is mounted directly onto a substrate. This is a common packaging method for diode lasers. It involves mounting the laser chip directly onto a heat-dissipating and supporting substrate, facilitating subsequent integration into more complex modules or systems.

Single-Mode COS means:

The laser chip operates in a single transverse/longitudinal mode, producing a beam spot with a near-Gaussian distribution.

It offers superior beam quality with an M² value approaching 1.

Featuring a narrow spectral linewidth, it suits applications requiring high precision and low noise.

Output power is typically lower than multimode variants, but the beam is cleaner with superior focusing performance.
