Selected!Ten common problems of laser engraving
For industries that use laser engraving machines for a long time, or do-it-yourself enthusiasts, there are some problems with laser engraving. For different materials, laser engraving parameters and methods are also different. So how do you adjust these to achieve the desired effect? This period brings you to the top ten common problems of laser engraving, and provides Suggestions for different materials and machine usage.
1. Some Suggestions for carving of solid wood and hardwood?
When carving hardwood, we suggest covering up the surface of the wood so that the residue can be reduced to infiltrate into the carved area and are easy to clean.
Use "from the bottom to the top" sculpt mode.In the laser software we use, RDwork can change the working mode of the laser head, allowing you to sculpt from down to down, not from top to bottom. The advantage of this is that the smoke and debris can be reduced to be pulled into the sculpted area while the laser head is moving.
2.Can you really carve glass? What's the trick?
The first thing to know is that not all glass is flat. While you might think you need to buy some more expensive and fancier glass to get better results, it's not.We have many customers who use wholesaler's glassware to sculpt, but the carving effect is also very good.
For carving glass, we give you a suggestion:
Using a relatively low resolution, approximately 300DPI can be achieved.
Change the black in the figure to 80% black, which can improve the quality of carving.
We found that a wet paper towel on the top of the glass helps heat and improve the quality of the carving, but make sure the paper doesn't fold.
Apply a thin layer of soap to the area you want to carve with your fingers or tissues, which will also help the cooling.
Use ScotchBrite or similar objects to polish the carving area and remove the glass fragments.
3. What should be noticed on plywood or light board?
This material is more suitable for use in the cutting area than in carving, because the texture of the plywood may not be uniform, and there are different layers of glue in it.And when you're carving it up, the material is important, uneven, or the amount of glue is so much that it's going to affect the sculptural effect.Of course, if the quality of the plywood is found, the engraving effect is very good, such as wood carving.

4.I want to expand my business to leather, will it be difficult?
Laser engraving or cutting of leather is all right, and we have a lot of customers in this industry who want to customize wallets and handbags.

What is the best setting for carving artificial leather?
This will depend on your machine and wattage, but you can find the laser parameters on the laser's website. If in doubt, you can start testing at a relatively high speed and low power.Because of this, as long as you don't move your material, you can sculpt again until you get what you want.
I hate wasting material. Can laser engraving machines use waste to do cool projects?
Using waste is a great idea, not only to create new projects, but also to use the waste to test more challenging sculptures, such as photographs. We've seen a lot of customers use waste to make all kinds of things, such as small acrylic lighting signs, accessories, labels, etc.
