Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA) are offered as stock items or associated with a choice of low-noise CW or high-speed pulsed drivers. An SOA optical amplifier driven in CW or pulse mode operates as a full-range amplifier, full-range variable optical attenuator, a lossless high dynamic range amplitude modulator or an isolation switch. 

 

All these Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA optical amplifier) show high gain and high output power performances over a wide range of wavelengths.  CW or pulsed SOA+driver solutions in either open-frame or turn-key versions are described below (Scroll down !!). An SOA amplifier driven in CW mode is a smart alternative to classical EDFAs (Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers). When driven in pulsed mode with our high end electronics, it can be compared with AOMs, EOMs or direct laser diode fiber modulators. It is the only solution meeting all the constraints for a reliable, stable and efficient fiber-coupled intensity amplification and modulation.
